Rachel Irwin PhD MSc MPhil
Rachel is an anthropologist with experience in health policy, global health governance and humanitarian affairs. She was previously a senior researcher in the Security and Development Programme at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), where she led a research stream on gender, security and development. She worked at the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in the team responsible for WHO’s Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health.
She has experience writing reports for the WHO, the European Commission and the European Parliament, as well as peer-reviewed articles and popular science pieces. She is currently the editor of the Journal of Health Diplomacy.
She completed her PhD at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and has an MSc in International Health Policy from the LSE and an MPhil in Medical Anthropology from the University of Oxford.
She speaks English, Swedish and German.
