Furat Al-Murani MSc MBChB
Furat has over a decade of professional and academic experience in global health, clinical medicine, epidemiology, study design, health systems and policy. He has consulted at the department of Public Health Sciences, Karolinska Institute (KI), focussing his work on fostering partnerships between multiple stakeholders including academia, local government, non-government organisations (NGOs) and the private sector.
Furat is interested in lifestyle modifications and the role of diet in non-communicable disease management. His work has predominantly been with migrants from disadvantaged backgrounds. His research interests include behavioural economic interventions for health, and the health/environment interface. He has worked in Colombia, Sweden, the Seychelles, and the UK.
After graduating from Keele University School of Medicine, he completed his full medical registration within the North East Thames Foundation School. He then went on to complete a Masters in Global Health.
He speaks English, Arabic and Spanish.
